God is so so so good!

Hello Farrer family and friends,

We apologize for being MIA for so long but we come bearing good news. We had our first OB ultrasound last Monday, 8/15/2011. I was bracing myself for the worst while Micah was wondering if we would see 1 or 2 heartbeats. Well we both got the surprise of a lifetime! The Physicians Assistant performing the ultrasound told us that we were pregnant with not 1... OR 2... but 3 babies! Yes, we are expecting Triplets. I think all three of us in the room that day were surprised. All 3 of our babies had a visible heart beat and were the correct size, exactly what the doctors want to see. We can both say - with the exception of our wedding day - that this was the best day of our lives. And needless to say there was a sea of happy tears shed.
So I know you are probably thinking 'this does not make much sense' considering we only put two embryos in... Well one of them split, so we have a pair of identical twins and one fraternal twin; 2 + 1 = triplets. We are feeling 'beyond blessed' by our special gifts from God.
Unfortunately, having PCOS makes any pregnancy a high risk, and now that I'm caring multiples the risk is that much higher. We are scheduled to see a Perinatologist in 2 weeks and by then we should know more about what I can and cannot do, and what is and is not normal. Would you please continue to pray for our pregnancy and the three beautiful babies inside me.
With God's grace we will soon have many sleepless nights, but we will also have 3 times the amount of joy.

Triplet Mommy Colleen

What a long 2 weeks...

Well we can actually say we survived the dreaded, boring, very long and tough two week wait.  We are sorry we left you all hanging for so long. We didn't have much to write about, other than a play by play of Micah's injections night after night after night, and we decided to save you from the boring details.

Today is a different story. We have lots to talk about.

So at the end of our 2 week wait Colleen had her lab drawn to see if she had any Beta HCG (beta), the human pregnancy hormone, in her bloodstream. The two weeks ended on Friday July 29, 2011. We both took the afternoon off so we could be together when the doctor's office called with the results. Well they called much earlier than they originally said they would so Colleen got the results while she was still at work waiting for Micah to pick her up. To hide her excitement from her coworkers she hid in the elevator room where Micah would be arriving.
 When Micah finally stepped out of the elevator Colleen hugged him and whispered into his ear "you're gonna be a daddy".
"I hope so" he replied.
"No you're gonna be a daddy!" she demanded; a second later he got it --
"What!? The doctors called?"
We stood there together frozen in time and happy as can be.
(Anybody want to write the screenplay?)

So our beta that day should have been around 100 and our PA Tammy was happy to announce ours was 376. Colleen had to repeat the blood test again today to make sure the number is rising appropriately and our pregnancy is developing at the correct rate. Today's beta number should have been around 1000 and our number was 1942.

So you've probably figured out by now that WE ARE PREGNANT!!! The doctors say Colleen's beta number shows that she has a strong pregnancy, something we have never heard before.


Our next big day will be two weeks from Monday when we go for our first OB Ultrasound. We are praying that we get to hear our baby's heartbeat.

We would like to say thank you again for all the prayer and huge support! You have been the hands and feet of God to us, and we wouldn't be where we are without you (and God of course).
